Born in 1992 in Los Alamos, New Mexico, Nic Nathanson currently lives and works in New York. He holds three undergraduate degrees from The University of Georgia in Cognitive Sciences, Psychology, and Art History as well as a master’s degree in Quantitative Methods from Columbia University.

Since 2014, Nathanson has exhibited work in group exhibitions across New York and the United States. Recent presentations include Glyphosate Paintings at Gymnopedie (2025), the 544 Park Annual Open Studios (2024), the Computational Journalism Showcase at Columbia University (2022), and exhibitions at The Art Students League of New York (2018) and Ciné in Athens, Georgia (2014). In 2025, he is fulfilling a grant from the Center for Family Alcohol Awareness and Research by producing a new series of paintings for their headquarters.

In parallel to his art practice, Nathanson has built a career in human-centered research and design. From 2022 to 2025, he served as a research lead at The New York Times, where he supported the development of new visual formats. He has also directed international research teams for companies including Google, Facebook, and American Express. His early professional research included projects for the Stanford d.school and the Museum of Modern Art.
